====== RIK maps ======

===== Alternative 1 (easier, works mostly, gives more map slices) =====
  - Use [[http://www.nilione.com/shapeup.php?page=home|ShapeUp]] or[[http://www.gdal.org/|GDAL]] to convert from RIK to jpg.
  - Rename the extensions, jpeg to jpg and tfw to jgw, for OziExplorer to be able to find the files.
  - Import the converted file(s) as DRG maps in OziExplorer. Ozi will create map-files for each jpg-file.
    * Map Datum = RT 90
    * Map Projection = Swedish Grid
  - Convert all maps using OruxMapsDesktop, use RT90:Swedish and UTM. To be able to do this in a batch (while so many map tiles are created) do as follow:
    * add "RT 90|RT90Swedish" to the file Ozi2Orux.txt in the OruxMapsDesktop install directory. 
    * in all created map-files, change "(SG) Swedish Grid" to "(UTM) Universal Transverse Mercator", this because the batch converter in OruxMapsDesktop currently do not support Swedish grid.


===== Alternative 2 (lots of work) =====
  - Use [[http://www.nilione.com/shapeup.php?page=home|ShapeUp]] or[[http://www.gdal.org/|GDAL]] to convert from RIK to jpg.
  - Rename the extensions, jpeg to jpg and tfw to jgw, for OziExplorer to be able to find the files.
  - Import the converted file(s) as DRG maps in OziExplorer. Ozi will create map-files for each jpg-file.
  - The projection of the map is at 2010-07-30 one not supported by OruxMaps (WGS84, RT90 or SWEREF 99, with projection swedish grid), check at [[http://www.oruxmaps.com|OruxMaps]] homepage if this has changed.
  - If the projection is not supported you need to convert the map.
    - Use [[http://www.oziexplorer3.com/img2ozf/img2ozf.html|Img2Ozf]] or [[http://www.oziexplorer3.com/mapmerge/mapmerge.html|MapMerge]] to convert to WGS84 and UTM zone 33. Remember to use the same pixelscale as original map.
    - The converted map will be of ozfx3 type, which is not supported by OruxMapsDesktop, use [[http://www.terraperfecta.com/demapper.php|DeMapper]] to create jpg maps.
  - Now you have a map in a format and with projection supported by OruxMapsDesktop.

===== Alternative 3 =====
1. Öppna rik-kartan i [[http://www.bluemarblegeo.com/products/global-mapper.php|Global Mapper]] och ändra i inställningar så att den visas i UTM zone 33 och WGS84.
2. Spara som jpg och välj att dela upp den i bitar t.ex. 5000*5000px med en överlapp på 250px.
3. Döp om alla .jgw till .tfw med Ant Renamer.
4. Kör [[http://oruxmaps.com/descargas_en.html|OruxMapsDesktops]] batch converter och specificera UTM zone 33 och WGS84.


===== Alternative 4 =====
Use [[http://www.bluemarblegeo.com/products/global-mapper.php|Global Mapper]] to convert RIK to png file with OziExplorer map-file.
Be sure to set UTM zone 33 and WGS84 for the RIK map first.
Convert the OziExplorer map to Oruxmaps map using [[http://www.the-thorns.org.uk/mapping/|MAPC2MAPC]].


===== Alternative 5 =====
Use [[http://www.the-thorns.org.uk/mapping/|MAPC2MAPC]] with [[http://www.gdal.org/|GDAL]] to open the RIK map and convert it to Oruxmaps format.
